July 1st, 2017 marks the 150th birthday of Canada. To celebrate I’ve put together a list of 11 shows to watch on Netflix to Celebrate Canada 150. Some titles are set in Canada, some are filmed in Canada and 1 stars a couple of Canadian boys traveling the world.
Strange Empire
Set along the Alberta-Montana boarder this Canadian inspired series is a dark western about a town where all the men have been murdered. Although set in Alberta it was shot in Langley, BC. Watch it fast, Strange Empire is only available until August 1, 2017.
Heartland
Quickly becoming a Canadian classic, Heartland is a modern western drama series set in and filmed in the Alberta mountains. 9 seasons presently streaming!
mr. d
Filmed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, mr. d was originally a CBC series. You can watch 5 seasons of mr. d faking his way thru his teaching job on Netflix.
Degrassi: Next Class
If you’re my age, you’ll easily remember the original Degrassi high series, right? Flash forward and there’s a new class at Degrassi and 3 seasons are available to share with your tween, teens with all the same drama and angst.
