Baby Needs New Shoes
And by “baby” I mean my car and by “shoes” I mean tires. How’s this for timing?…We knew that my 2010 Ford Flex would need 4 new tires before this winter. But who thinks of winter tires in August or September? I’m certain the first time I would have thought of tires would have been while sliding thru a stop sign on the first icy morning while dropping the kids at the bus stop. Well thanks to my temporary lack of depth perception I hit a curb with 2 tires causing what I can only describe as a hernia on the side wall of one tire. Ouch!
This incident was also well timed with an annual golf trip that Brent takes to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho….wait, I am getting to a point…Did you know that the cost of tires is WAY cheaper across the boarder than in Canada??? Well they are.
I called Perfection Tire in Post Falls and Shaun hooked me up. I go 4 new tires for $815.44*, compared to the quoted cost of $1500 in Calgary. WOW. So the moral of the story is, if you have the time or the connection to get new tires in the USA, take advantage of the huge savings!
*In Idaho, work a deal with them for no sales tax. If you buy in Spokane and show your AB drivers license there is NO sales tax. Install of the rubber to my rims with balancing will cost around $40 per/tire depending on size and car. Still a huge savings!
