Happy Mother’s Day
I’ve had a lot of mother’s over the years. Of course the first mother I ever had was my mom. The beautiful woman who gave me life and who stayed on this earth as long as she possibly could before going to the angels 22 years ago. She used the short amount of time we had together to teach me lessons, skills and the value of being a strong, independent woman with a good self esteem. Happy Mother’s Day Mom.
I feel so lucky to have had some wonderful, caring women try to fill a part of the void in my life. As a parentless adolescent I was mothered by my friends’ moms who included me at Christmas and Thanksgiving. They listened to my boy problems. They took me shopping for my grad dress. They cheered for me as I got my high school diploma. They hugged me. Happy Mother’s Day Patricia and Mary and the other Moms from the hood.
Then just before I moved out of the hood my mom’s youngest sister packed up her life and moved out west to Calgary. She quickly inserted herself into my life in all the right places. Checking out my new boyfriend before he moved in and asked me to marry him. Making my wedding cake among other things. Standing in the family pictures for the wedding photographer. Demanding my attendance at every birthday, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Sunday dinner. Holding each of my new born children and loving them as her grandchildren. Standing next to me thru years of tears, laughter, NICU, cancer, pain and prosper and loving me just the same. Happy Mother’s Day Lisa.
I am blessed beyond my greatest expectations and continually inspired by the strength of all the mothers I have in my life.
Take some time today and give thanks to ALL the mothers in your life who love you.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Through the tears I am blessed beyond words. Life is full of many twists and turns and the unexpected joys and blessings that come along with the anguish and fear. My life was blessed a hundred fold the day we became “family!. I love you with all my heart. xoxoxo
I also have a surrogate mom in my life and I am so blessed to have her. She has been there for me so many times when I desperately needed a mom.
Happy (belated) Mother’s Day to you too!
