Happy New Year
What a crazy, insane year 2014 was. I had a look back and found that despite the roller coaster climax right to the end, the year was filled with fun, love and adventure and a whole lot of saying, yes, more. I am really excited for 2015 and all the possibilities that will come from all the amazing ground work we’ve done in 2014. Happy New Year, y’all!
Here are the stand out highlights of my 2014 and lessons learned from them:
- We had our first ever family ski trip. All the kids did ski lessons and loved it. I discovered that I don’t give them enough credit for having the strength to take on new things.
- I re-entered the workforce for the first time in 11 years. I learned that I do have skills that are employable and I’m on my way to being an expert in, well, something.
- I travelled A LOT! A couple of amazing girls trips, BlogHer in California, Blissdom in Toronto, Denver for my first ever press trip with Bridgestone, Detroit for my second ever press trip with Chevrolet and of course, the icing on the cake was my grand prize trip to NYC with Shannon courtesy of Blissdom Canada! I logged some serious mileage in 2014 and learned that saying YES can lead to amazing relationships and opportunities.
- I was diagnosed with cancer and learned that by letting people in and being open to accepting help is a healing movement for both me and the people who love me.
- I was un-diagnosed with cancer and learned that even the most certain of doctors can be wrong and miracles do happen.
- I made friends in the most unlikely places and have learned that some of those people are the most important influences in my life and I will cherish them always.
Tonight we will ring in the new year with our kids and friends and some silly lemurs at 10pm (shhh don’t tell the kids). Thanks to Netflix and All Hail King Julien, we have a countdown we can put on anytime we want so the kids can ring in the new year and be off to bed. That time between when the kids are in bed and when the new year rolls in, I hold my breath and say good-bye to 2014, with the thanks for giving me the gifts of humility, gratitude and hope.
Happy New Year to all of you! Thank you for being a part of my 2014 and I hope you’ll come back in 2015 to see where this crazy ride takes us.
Wishing you all the best in 2015!
