Just Leap

Have you ever done something that scared you? I mean something you’ve been avoiding for years but knew you HAD to do or you’d regret it for the rest of your life?

 

 

Maybe it’s skydiving or writing a book or packing up your family and moving across the country or changing careers or ending your marriage or getting up on stage or sending an email.

Wait. What? An email?

Yes. Yesterday I sent an email. An email that (I’m hoping) is the thing that will start me on a journey I’ve been dreaming about for YEARS! Ok, I know you’re dying to know what my “thing” is but unless each and every one of you signs a very wordy Non-Disclosure Non-Circumvent agreement, I can’t tell you (and YEAH, it’s THAT big). Sorry, you’ll have to live with what the people at the big blue “F” call “vague-booking”.

What I CAN tell you is that I’ve been living in fear. A paralyzing fear of failure and of being taken advantage of. What if I tell people my thing and they hate it? What if I can’t get the right people to listen to my thing? What if the right people love my thing and steal it from me?

But then, after almost 5 years of holding my thing so close to try to protect it, I thought, if I don’t at least try to make my thing a reality then it might as well be a failure or hated or stolen. Either way, my thing wouldn’t be out there.

So with the help of my tribe, I sent my first email to someone who could possibly be a part of my journey. I was shaking when I hit send. And I won’t breathe until he replies but I have spent too many nights laying awake with a sense of regret in my stomach for letting it sit on a shelf.

No more. I’m taking a leap of faith (in myself). NO regrets.
