Summer Vacation (part 2) Good-bye Summer!
And the road trip continued.
We drove from Osoyoos to Penticton and parked at the Wright’s Beach Campground . It’s a nice campground on Skaha Lake with large trees and a great beach for the kids. They play movies 2 nights a week in the grassy field, weather permitting and have organized games. If you “like” them on Facebook they post challenges for the kids to win a free icecream cone. Even if you don’t win a free cone the prices are the most reasonable we came across. 1 small scoop, perfect for kids is only $1.00. The staff were friendly and helpful and if you are in your camp site at the right time in the evening a lovely lady will come by with her fruit truck selling fresh local peaches, cherries, peppers, plums and even garlic! Yum.
We were lucky to be in Penticton for the 30th anniversary of Ironman Canada . We planned our 5 night trip so that we could support and cheer on a good friend who was challenging himself to run his first Ironman race. This popular race of human endurance is a test even for the fittest of athletes and as a spectator I really felt the energy of the whole community coming together. It was truly inspiring.
The rest of our trip was a quick stop in Vernon for 1 night to camp with dear friends then 2 nights in Mara lake visiting some more friends. We rounded it off with 3 nights in Radium with some more friends.
Phew!
If you’ve been keeping track, that’s 3 weeks living in a camper trailer and driving in a pick up truck with 6 people. But all joking aside, we had a great family vacation and made a lot of memories. Brigette’s favourite part was the horseback riding in Osoyoos. Stella’s favourite part was making friends with an english bulldog. Abby’s favourite part was the beach. Hilary’s favourite part was all the icecream that Daddy insisted we stop for.
Yeah, so that’s about it in a nutshell…I admit this post is lame but the thought of having part 1 out there and never doing part 2 was eating at my soul.
So there it is. Enjoy!
This is a great post. Thanks so much for sharing, like always. noText
