Tattoo Tuesday: Watercolour
Woo hoo, it’s another edition of Tattoo Tuesday: Watercolours!
First off, let me make something clear, I would never get a tattoo just to be trendy but I have to admit that when water colour tattoos started becoming popular, I was immediately drawn to the beauty and softness of the style. How lucky for me to find an artist right here in my home city who is quickly emerging as a master in water colour tattoos. Meet Ryan Tews. He’s known to many as @GentlemanTattooer on instagram and if you’re not following him, you should.
So for ever, I had no interest in putting tattoos on my upper arms. I liked the look of my bare shoulders and just never thought I would find anything worthy of that prime real-estate. Until I found Ryan. I had a consult with him and we talked about my idea for flowers, a bee, a humming bird and some honeycomb. The rest was up to him.
The first session took us 3.5 hours. To date, my longest session yet. My arm was so swollen from shoulder to elbow that I looked like the hulk.
Second and final session was about 3 weeks later and only took 1.5 hours. We finished up the colour on the humming bird, some details on the honeycomb and added some stem work on the flowers. I couldn’t be happier with it.
What does it all mean?
It means that I loved the artist and his style and I wanted it. Sometimes, it’s nothing more than that.
